  • Big Sean faces sexual assault charges

    In Agust of 2011, Sean faced sexual assault charges at a concert in Buffalo, New York. He was arrested the night of the incident and was bailed out that night. After the event, he addressed the incident and was confident the charges would be dropped, as they later were for a lesser charge of unlawful improsonment and payed the $750 fine. Since the event he has had no further run ins with the law.

    Big Sean wins his first major award. In his acceptance speech, he thanks a variety of people, including his mom, Detroit, Kayne West, GOOD Music, No ID Studios, his family, and many others. Most of these people or groups were part of his career, illustrating that he recognizes that he didn't do it all himself and had people helping him get to where he is. He also thanked his mother repeatedly showing that he is a momma's boy.

    By thanking Detroit he shows that he recognizes his roots and is happy about where he is from. Later in his speech he mentions a converation he had with one of the interviewers, who told him that her child, whenever, they hang up the phone says "Swerve," something that Sean often said early in his carrer, showing that very early in his carrer he had a great influence over the younger generation.

    In an interview with Vogue, Sean talks about his evolution as an artist and how he has evolved from a Tupac want to be, to a street style influencer, now wearing fashionable outfits on stage instead of preforming without a shirt on. Additionally he talked about how much he enjoys touring, despite how tiring it is, illustrating again his desire to become better.

    He talks about his newest project I Decided, working with Eminem and rappers taking the GOAT title. In the interview, Sean says that working with Eminem on this album was a dream come true as they are both from Detroit and he grew up listening to him. He again talks about how much he loves his mother showing again how large of a part of his life she is. He also opens up about struggling with depression because of personal issues including having someone break into his home.
