The Israelites and the Philistines faced off in a battle in Sokoh in Israel. The Philistines decided that their best man would fight against the Israelite's best man. No one would want to fight the Philistine champion, Goliath of Gath. Finally, David came and defeated the Goliath and the Philistines. -

Johnathan's Test
David was sure that Saul wanted to kill him. Jonathan wasn't. So Jonathan decided to ask his father what he thought of David. Saul basically told him that he hates David. So Jonathan shot some arrows to tell David that he needs to leave now. We do not have the exact date, so this is just an estimated date. -

Saul was born in 1076 BC in the land of Benjamin in Israel. His father was Kish, the son of Abiel. -

David and Saul in the cave
Once, when Saul was hunting down David, he had to relieve himself. So when he went in the cave, David and his men were in the same cave. David's men told him to kill Saul since he has the opportunity. David said no and instead, he cut off a piece of Saul's robe. -

David is anointed king
When David just a teenage boy, Samuel came to Jesse, David's father, and asked to see his sons. God was going to use one of Jesse's sons to be the next king of Israel. Every son was sent through the line, and God rejected all of them. Finally, David came and Samuel anointed him as king. -

Saul is anointed king
Saul was anointed king in 1046 BC. -

Solomon builds the temple
God told Solomon to build a place that will honor God's name. So Solomon did. The finishing touch was the ark. -

Jonathan defeats the Philistines
While the Israelites were in a battle against the Philistines, Saul made a very rash vow, saying that no one can eat until their enemy is defeated. Jonathan wasn't around when Saul made that vow. Instead, Jonathan and his armor-bearer took off and defeated the Philistines all by themselves. -

David and Absalom
When Absalom returned from being away for three years, he made himself king. Suddenly, he and David became enemies. They had a war between them, and eventually, Absalom died. -
1005 BCE
David and Bathsheba
While Israel was at war with the Philistines, David did not go. Instead, he saw a woman bathing and she was beautiful. So he went to her house and spent the night with her. Here she was the wife of a man in David's army, so he was out in war at the time. When Bathsheba gave word to David that she was pregnant, David panicked and tried to kill her husband. Finally, David did, and he also took Bathsheba as his wife -

Saul's death
Saul died during a battle with the Philistines. Before the battle, Saul had a witch call Samuel, who was dead, and tell him what to do. Samuel told Saul that he would die in battle with the Philistines. Then during the battle, Saul later committed suicide. -

Jonathan's Death
During a battle against the Philistines, the same battle and the same day that Saul died, Jonathan was killed.
