Editor
1953- Pinochet was also the editor of the institutional magazine Cien Aguilas (One Hundred Eagles). At the beginning of 1953, he was sent for two years to the Rancagua Regiment in Arica. While there, he was appointed professor of the Chilean War Academy, and returned to Santiago to take up his new position. -
President Of Chile
March 11, 1981- Augusto Pinochet is sworn into president according to newly written constitution. He was 66 when he became president. He was also the dictator of Chile in 1973-1990. -
Surviving Being Shot
Augusto survives an assassination attempt. pro-Communist guerrillas tried to assassinate him. He was 68 when that happened. -
Extradition
When he was in London, he was captured by the british after spain requested his extradition. Pinochet was arrested for crimes of genocide and terrorism. His arrest caused tension between the UK and Chile. -
Jail
In 2000, Pinochet was still under house arrest in the UK, facing the outcome of legal procedures. But the UK let him go back to Chile but he was in ill health. Chile’s Court of Appeal decided to stop Pinochet from immunity from prosecution. -
Heart Attack
Had his deadly heart attack on Dec. 3, 2006. Although he died on Dec. 10, 2006. He was hospitalized the day of the heart attack and undergoes angioplasty. -
Death
December 10, 2006- Died December 10, 2006 in Santiago. Augusto Pinochet died because of a heart attack. He was 91 when he died. -

Studies & War Acadamy
By late 1948, he entered the War Academy but had to postpone his studies because he had to carry out a service mission in the coal zone of Lota. The following year he returned to his studies in the Academy, and after obtaining the title of Officer Chief of Staff, in 1951, he returned to teach at the Military School.
