    Life span of Auguste Comte

  • The First Volume: Course of Positive Philosophy

    In the year 1830, Comte published his first volume in his fundamental work called, "Course of Positive Philosophy." There were 4 volumes totaled that concluded in the year 1842. His works of positive philosophy was not appreciated and was denied the position of professor of mathematics in Polytechnic School of Paris.
  • École Polytechnique

    Comte became a tutor at École Polytechnique from the years 1832-1842. After becoming a tutor for a short period of time he moved on the be an examiner. After fighting with several directors of the prestigious school he lost his job and most of his money.
  • Système de politique positive (System of Positive Polity)

    After the death of Clotilde de Vaux, Comte took his other major works, the Système de politique positive. These works were completed in 4 volumes and highlighted morality and moral progress as the key point in human knowledge. These works along with his other titles were highly scrutinized in Europe; however, many European English writers were taken back by his writings and continued to publicize his works.
  • The Catechism of Positive Religion and “Subjective Synthesis”

    In 1852 he wrote, "The Catechism of Positive Religion," and in 1856, “Subjective Synthesis”. These were some of his last works that were published and were considered well organized. Although his writings were heavy and monotonous, he greatly expressed his ideas with persistence and magnitude.
