The Persian War
The Persian War was deadly, that included the rivals of the city-states of Greece and the Persians. The Greeks won from all the useful plans to get back at Xerxes (the Persian king). -

Sophocles
Sophocles was only 30 years younger than Aeschylus but played an outstanding lead role of the victory of The Salamis battle over the Persian. When he started writing plays he soon became rivals with Aeschylus. His play, "Oedipus the King" made him very famous. -

Euripides
He was born around 485 B.C. Eventually he received less awards then he wanted, even though he wrote around 80-90 plays.The Athenian audiences made him very popular. -

The Golden Age of Athens
The Golden age introduced a great defensive force called the Delian League. This defensive force protected the city-states of Greece against Persia. Including in that active moment were Athens and other city-states other than Sparta. The Delian League (The Golden Age of Athens), lasted for only 75 years. -

Socrates
Socrates was one of the greatest Athenian philosophers of all time. He fought in the Peloponnesian War when he was a young man. Most of his philosophical ideas became from his student, Plato's writings. He wrote nothing down but he was one of the first to study Ethics. when we think of Socrates, we think of Greek philosophy. -
445 BCE
Aristophanes
Usually his plays made fun of statesman similar to Pericles, dramatists including Euripides, and philosophers just like Socrates. He lived from 445 B.C.-380 B.C. -
427 BCE
Plato
Plato was a student of Socrates and fled from Athens because he didn't feel welcomed since his teacher has been executed. Later in 387 B.C., he opened up a school called, the Academy. It was then shut down because it did not teach Christianity. He recorded conversations that Socrates had with other foreigners. Plato started teaching philosophy to other people including Aristotle. -
356 BCE
Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great was one Aristotle's students and he was the son of King Phillip II. When his father was killed, he became king when he was only 20. He attacked the Persians in 334 B.C. and surprisingly won, because he was outnumbered by the Persians!
