Alan Turing's Life Duration
-
Cryptanalysis
During the Second World War, Turing participated in the breaking of German ciphers. He assisted in specifying the bombe was the first of five major cryptanalytical advances that he made during the war. He created an indicator procedure, developed a statistical procedure, developing a procedure for working out the cam on the Lorenz SZ 40/42. He as well made a portable secure voice scrambler. -
Hut 8 and Nnaval Enigma
Turing had decided to take it upon his own to solve the problem of the German naval Enigma. In 1939 he solved one of the most essential parts of the naval indicator system. -
Bombe
It is considered by some to be his most important contribution, was his part in making Bombe. Bombe is the cryptanalytic machine used in 1940. -
Engagement
He proposed to his colleague Joan Clarke, but it didn't last very long as he admitted his homosexuality. -
Turingery
Turing developed a technique called Turingery that was used against the Lorenz cipher. It translated messages that came from the German's cypher machine. -
Delilah
After his work at Bell Labs Turing wanted to see about turning the idea of electronic enciphering speech in a telephone system. He moved to work for the Secret Services Radio Security Service and helped make the thought of electronic enciphering speech system came true. They named it Delilah, and was used throughout the secod world war. -
Order of the British Empire.
He was appointed to the Order of the British Empire. -
Intelligent Machinery
In 1947 Turing went back to Cambridge for a year off where in which he created Intelligent Machinery. While it was not published during his life it was extremely imporant. It assisted in executing its first program in 1950 and computer around the world owe much to it. -
Deputy Director of the Computing Machine Labrotary
During this time he worked on software for one of the earliest stored-program computers. -
Turing Test
What Turing was most well known for was creating a chess program that he began in 1948. The program has been used to test artificial intillegence and solving matrix equations. -
Fellow of the Royal Society
He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Soceity. -
The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis
He suggested a system that would have chemical reactions with each other and diffuse across spam. It was named a reaction-diffusion system. It was important because it discovered how patterns worked together and produced. -
Conviction for Indecency
During his relationship with Arnold Murray 20 years younger than himself. Due to an altercation with Murray's friend trying to rob Turing he was reported to the police. However during this time in the UK being homosexual was against the law, and he was charged with gross indecency. -
Death
He was found dead by his housekeeper. He died to cyanide poisning however it was deemed to be suicide. -
Alan Turing Law
The government announced that any men convicted of homosexuality in the past would be exonderated. It is now considered informally as the Alan Turing law.
