He also was known for his issues about race, religion, and politics and was known as a controversial figure during the 1960's. In 1964, Ali joined the Nation of Islam and changes his name.     He was a huge person throughout the 1960's dealing with equlaity of the people. He was commonly known for his "I Have A Dream" speech and his non- violent protests in Washington DC. Sadly, on April 4, King was assassinated while he was standing on a balcony outside of his hotel.
