The rebellion broke out during the Qing Dynasty in China that began as a tax protest led by a secret society called the White Lotus. The White Lotus Uprising signals anti-Manchu unrest and social decay. -
Mexican War of Independence
It was a succsessful armed conflict between the people of Mexico and the Spanish colonial authorities which started on September 16, 1810. It all began as an idealistic peasants' rebellion against their colonial masters, but ended as an unlikely alliance between Mexican ex-royalists and Mexican guerrilla insurgents. -
Miguel Hidalgo declares indpendence of Mexico from Spain
This event would begin a war for independence from Spain that would last from 1810 to 1821. Miguel Hidalgo would become a revolutionary leader and lead rebels into battle against Spanish officials. -
West Florida Rebellion
The people living in West Florida were former American citizens that wanted to escape Spanish rule,but found themselves still under it.They formed secret meetings to discuss how to overthrow them and began their second attack after the first failed one on Semptember 23, 1810.After the raising of the Bonnie Blue flag at Fort Baton Rouge, the govenor of Mississippi was made an offer enabling them to form the Republic of West Florida on October 24, 1810.It lasted for 3 days before joining the US. -
Pedro I declares Brazilian independence from Portugal
Revolutions in Portugal led Pedro's father to return to Portugal and leave him to oversee Brazil. Tension was caused in Brazil after Portugal threatened to alter the style of government. Pedro shockingly sided with the Brazilians and declared Portugal's richest colony independent. -
Battle of Ayacucho
While most of South America was experiencing various revolutions, Peru remained dominated by loyalists. The rebeles were led by Antonio Jose de Sucre and managed to defeat the powerful Spanish Monarchy and gain independence. -
The Second French Revolution
The French Revolution was caused when King Louis XVI was taxing the Third Estates class but, not the frist or second estates class leaving them to get richer and richer. The leaders of the revolution quickly pushed the royal family into exile and created the July Monarchy which lasted till 1848 when the Second Republic was formed. -
Treaty of London
Since the Netherlands had refused to sign the Treaty of the XXIV Articles that gave Belgium independece after they defeated Holland, the London Conference took place. European powers signed the Treaty of London that gave Belgium their independence after many years of battle. -
Taiping Rebellion
Beginning in December of 1850 and ending in August of 1864, the Taiping Rebellion was a massive civil war between the ruling Manchu-led Qing Dynasty and Hong Xiuquan. Hong Xiuquan proclaimed that he had visions that he was Jesus Christ's younger brother. This became the deadliest military conflicts. -
Jintian Uprising
The Jinitian Uprising in China would cause the formation of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (also beginning of the Taiping Rebellion) whose ultimate goal was to begin a new era of rule in China. -
Glorious Revolution
The Glorious Revolution occured place in Spain in 1868, resulting in the removal of Queen Isabella II. Leaders of the revolution eventually recruited an Italian prince, Amadeo of Savoy, as king. His reign lasted two years, and he was replaced by the first Spanish Republic. This also lasted two years, until leaders in 1875 proclaimed Isabella's son, as King Alfonso XII in the Bourbon Restoration. -
Northwest Rebellion
An unsuccessful rebellion by Métis against Canada because the believed Canada was failing at protecting their rights. The loss at Batoche, Saskatchewan scattered the alegiances and tensions between French Canada and English Canada increased for some time.Due to the role that the Canadian Pacific Railway played in transporting troops, political support increased and the legislature authorized funds to complete the country's first transcontinental railway. -
Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion between 1898 and 1901 was anti-foreign, proto-nationalist movement by the Righteous Harmony Society in China. They were opposing foreign imperialism and christianity after an economic disruption. Chinese officialdom was split between those who supported the Boxer effort to destroy the foreigners and those officials. On 7 September 1901, the Qing court agreed to sign the "Boxer Protocol" also known as Peace Agreement between the Eight-Nation Alliance and China.
