    Robert E Lee
    I consider Robert E Lee a pretty important role during the time of reconstruction. After the war he lost everything and was very poor. His beliefs were that to bring the south out of poverty education was key. This led him to encourage schools to be built in the south.
  • Ulysses S Grant

    Ulysses S Grant
    He accepted Lee’s Surrender April 9th 1865. I chose to include this man on my reconstruction portion of my timeline because was a huge part of the Union winning the war. he became a leader by convincing Lincoln to control many Union troops. after Lincoln agreed he took a najor war changing battle at Fort Henry. He became president 1869 and was respected for his military leadership. He was able to suppress the Ku Klux Klan until the 1920s. Slavery was still around but was highly frowned upon.

    Abraham Lincoln was most likely the most known Historical Figure during the reconstruction era. There are a few reasons he has the number one spot on my timeline. He was the sixteenth president and was the president of the Union States. He was the first Republican president ever. He was know for the Ten Percent plan. This was a plan saying if 10% of a confederate state pledged Allegiance to the Union they could become a union state. One of Lincoln's biggest Historical moves was the Emancipation
  • Thaddues Stevens

    Thaddues Stevens
    I chose Thaddeus Stevens as another one of my people of the reconstruction era because he was the most known Radical Republican. He stood against Lincoln saying his plan for reconstruction were too “Lenient” He wanted to abolish slavery and was part of the enforcement of the fourteenth amendment. Most of his attention went to civil rights. He was a big part of the underground railroad helping slaves get to Canada. I feel like he had a big part in the civil war and deserved a spot on my timeline.
  • Jefferson Davis

    Jefferson Davis
    Although history is know as the story of the victorious i believe Jefferson Davis although wasnt very successful but still played a big part in the reconstruction era. He was the only ever Confederate President.He was thrown in prison in Virginia for two years as punishment for leading a country against the Union. After losing the war he lost his citizenship and ran to Europe but quickly returned when he received his Citizenship back in 1978.

    There was no NFL in 1910 there was only college football. A touchdown was worth only 5 points compared to its regular 6, you can only throw 20 yards down the field and you had to let the receiver catch the ball. There weren't the traditional wide receivers there were only tight ends.

    Food in the 1910s was usually dependent on the ethnicity and the wealth of the family. Southern and Northern families ate very differently. Lastly, the country had to ration due to the war.

    brothers William and Gustav A. Schacht established the Schacht Manufacturing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, and their first automobile entered production in 1904. The price of the car in 1910 was worth $19,800. It's horsepower was only 24.

    In the 1910s only 19% of high school kids were enrolled and only 9% graduated. The education at the time shifted from farming to the industrial business. A majority of the things in school came from other countries like Europe.

    After the great fire of 1871, Chicago became the nation's main instrument producer. They started producing tons of pianos and organs. Being that the progressive era took place before the radio and sound tv instruments were a main source of self entertainment. Chicago made half of the countries pianos and brought in a lot of money with the high demand during the progressive era.
