The Years of the Revolutionary War
The war was a military conflict to get independence from Great Britian. The British wanted the Americans to be in their control but the colonies wanted to be free so the colonies battled for their freedom in the Revolutionary War. The colonies won and after that the Founding Fathers and Delagates signed the Declaration for the freedom of the U.S. It impacted us because if the colonies hadn't fought we wouldn't be the nation we are. -

Nat Turner's Slave Rebellion
In 1831, Nat Turner and 70 other followers killed 55 white men, women, and children. Most of his men were caught and killed after the ran out of ammunition. Turner was tried and hung.

The Texas Revolution
The Texas Revolution was a war fought by Texas who wanted to be independent and Mexico who wanted Texas to be part of Mexico. On February 23, 1836, the Mexicans troops surrounded San Antonio. The next day the Mexicans began their seige on the Alamo.

The Oregon Trail is a 2000 mile long trail that the Pioneers took. The trail was laid by fur-trappers and traders in 1811 to 1840. On the trail the Pioneers had to survive the harsh winters a wild animals.

The war began when a Mexican unit crossed into our land and ambushed American troops. James K. Polk sent a war message to Congress saying what Mexico did and Congress declared war. The gold rush started in 1849 but it was in 1848 when a carpenter named James Marshall found a shiny stone. In 1849 many families flocked to California for jobs, land, and money.

Bleeding Kansas
In May 1855, John Brown an extreme abolitionist led seven other men in a massacre of five of his proslavery neighbors.As news of the violence spread, civil war broke out in Kansas. It continued for three years, and the territory became known as "Bleeding Kansas."

Harpers Ferry
In 1859, Brown and 18 followers captured the Harpers Ferry arsenal.He then sent word out to rally slaves to come and fight but none came. U.S. Marines attacked Brown and the men and he was captured and was tried for murder and treason.

The war was known as the War Between the States or the Civil War. The war was fought because of the Confederates wanted slaves but the Union didn't. It is won of the bloodiest battles in America. I would go back in time to see what it would be like to see the Civil War. -
The Assassination of Abe Lincoln
The Assassination took place on Good Friday, as the Civil War was drawing to a close. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth a Confederate actor who thought if he got rid of the three leaders the Union would fall apart and the Confederates would win. He was shot while watching the play Our American Cousin with his wife Mary Todd Lincoln at Ford's Theater in Washington, DC. He died early next morning. -
Dedication of the Statue of Liberty
The dedication of the Statue was a big deal representing our friendship with the people of France during the Revolutionary War. It is a symbol of our freedom. The Statue was unvailed and there was a huge celebration. I would take a time machiene back and vist that time period because it would be awesome. -
Sinking of the RMS Titanic
The ship sunk in the North Atlantic four days into her voyage after she hit an iceberg. The disaster resulted in more than 1,500 deaths. The boat the RMS Carpathia rescued them and brought them to New York City. The disaster resulted in more lifeboats on ships and ships answering the telegraphs at all times. If I had a time machine I would go to the Titanic disaster because it would be interesting to see what they did back then and how it would feel. -

September 11 (9/11)
On 9/11 there was four planes hijacked by terroists. On that day two airplanes were flown into the World Trade Center's North and South towers. Within two hours they both fell. The airplanes were taken over by terroists. There was a third plane which was flown into the Pentagon. The fourth was aimed for the White House but it crashed in Shanksville, PA after the passengers overcame them and crashed it there so it didn't hit the White House. -
