    Magna Carta
    First document which limited a kings power. We used it to limit our government when creating our government.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought in order to decide whether France could be a strong power within North America. This war was significant because it ended the treaty of Paris, while also giving Great Britain territorial gains in North America.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty on the Boston harbor. This event was significant because it allowed Americans to gain confidence and stand up for there individual freedoms.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    The British army came from Boston to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock, as well as destroying America’s arsenal. This event was significant because it was the spark which started the American revolution.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    When the constitutional congress discussed the idea of declaring independence from England. This document was significant because it set a blueprint to Americas rights, while also helping America gain alliances.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    The battle of Saratoga marked the climax of the American Revolution which resulted in a win for America against the British. This battle was significant due to the alliance with France that America was able to obtain.

    When the continentional army led by George Washington winning against the British army. This battle was significant because the surrender by the British ended the American Revolution.
  • U.S Constitution

    U.S Constitution
    A document which established a structure of government, giving America the branches it has today. This document was significant because it gave the country organization, however not everything within the document was followed.
  • The Bill of Rights

    A part of the constitution which was eventually added that protected American citizens rights and liberties. This part of the constitution was significant because the saying; “we the people” was officially in action.
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    This event was the big growth of new technologies and industrialization between the North and South. The industrial revolution was not only significant because of the new technology it established, but also for the rise of political disputes between the North and South.

    Louisiana Purchase
    A land deal between the United States and France that gained America approximately 800,000 square miles west down the Mississippi River. This was significant due to almost doubling the size of the country.

    Alex de Tocqueville was sent to America
    Alex de Tocqueville was sent to America to observe American Prisons. This event was significant because it inspired Alex to write the book ‘Democracy in America.’

    A war between the north and south. This war took place due to political disputes among slavery and laws. This event was significant because it ended the institution of slavery.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny
    A theory/belief that the expansion of the United States throughout the American continents were inevitable. This belief was significant because the belief of democracy and capitalism spread across the whole continent of North America.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    The Battle of Gettysburg was a Union victory that stopped General Robert E. Lee's invasion in the north. This battle was significant due to the title: bloodiest battle, having over 50,000 casualties.
