Chapter 4: Social Bonds Development/Social referencing
Social referencing is where someone seeks information about how to react to something that is unfamiliar. They do this by observing others reactions, and then the other individual becomes the social reference. In this picture I always smiled whenever a camera was pulled out. I did this because I saw my brothers smiling, so that means I had to as well. Usually babies wouldn't smile for a picture, but I always did because my brothers were my social references.
  • Chapter 3: Sensorimotor skills/fine motor skills

Chapter 3: Sensorimotor skills/fine motor skills
Fine motor skills is the physical abilities involving small body movements, which are usually in the hands and fingers. An example can be picking up an object, such as a pencil. At the age of one I accomplished the fine motor skill of picking up objects, such as in this case a bottle. Any bottle I found I always picked it up.
  • Chapter 5: Early Childhood-Pre-opperational Intelligence/Irreversibility

    Chapter 5: Early Childhood-Pre-opperational Intelligence/Irreversibility
Irreversibility is a pre-operational thought where a child believes it cannot be reversed. It is something that can not be "restored" as to the way it was before the change has been made. As a kid I always hated vanilla ice cream, so whenever my family and I went into an ice cream shop my parents automatically knew to get me anything but vanilla ice cream.
  • Chapter 6: Initiative vs Guilt

    Chapter 6: Initiative vs Guilt
Initiative vs Guilt is where children undertake new skills and activities, and they feel the sense of guilt when they do not succeed. In this picture I was mini golfing with my family, and I couldn't hit the ball, so I felt like a disappointment. Although my dad would help me and tell me that I will eventually improve, it would all just take time.
  • Chapter 7: Mid-childhood- Body and Mind/Automatization

    Chapter 7: Mid-childhood- Body and Mind/Automatization
Automatization is the process in which repetition of a sequence of thoughts and actions makes the sequence routine, so that it no longer requires conscious thought. For an example I knew my bedtime was always at 8pm so whenever the clock would hit 8pm I had to go to sleep. This reoccured everyday, so it no longer required any conscious thoughts.
  • Chapter 8: Mid-childhood-The social world/Cumulative stress

    Chapter 8: Mid-childhood-The social world/Cumulative stress
Cumulative stress is where stress accumulates over time. Daily hassles can be more detrimental than an isolated major stress. For an example, my family and I would go out fishing everyday in the summer, and I would never catch anything, although everyone else did. This made me feel stresses overtime because I was watching everyone else around me do it right, but I could never catch anything.
  • Chapter 9: Adolescence Cognition-The Imaginary Audience

Chapter 9: Adolescence Cognition-The Imaginary Audience
The imaginary audience is an adolescents egocentric belief, and individuals take notes upon their appearance, behaviors, and even others' ideas. This belief can make teens feel self conscious about themselves, and make them feel like they are not good enough. An example is when my friends and I went on vacation and there were relay pool games in front of the whole hotel. I was scared I was going to be judged by everyone, but in reality nobody cared what I did, everyone was having a good time.
  • Chapter 10: Adolescence- Identity vs role confusion

Chapter 10: Adolescence- Identity vs role confusion
Identity vs role confusion is when people question who they really are, and wonder which of the roles they should adopt to. I showed this development when I moved from MI to FL. I felt lost when I left my MI friends and thought I would never see nor communicate with them again. Although I just went away to Cabo this past week with my Michigan friends and reunited with everyone again, at that moment I realized that I can still be close friends with them even though I live in another state.
