    Thomas Samuel Kuhn was born to Samuel Louis Kuhn and Minette Kuhn in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tom's father was a World War I Veteran and an industrial engineer. Tom's mother came from a well off New York Family. She worked a freelance editor, and admired Art. Both of Both mr. and mrs. Kuhn were left-wing politics and of Jewish descent. They didn't religiously practice.

    Tom Earned his Bachelors of Science in physics degree in 1943. He graduated early with summer class due to the World War II outbreaking. He graduated with the High of Honors, summa cum laude. He then obtained his PhD in Physics in 1949. He started his PhD in 1946.

    Tom had joined a Harvard Newspaper Group, the troop was asked to figure out how to take down German Radar. He traveled to the UK to work in a laboratory and then to Germany to work on this project.

    Kuhn was to deliver a special speech at Harvard for the undergrads. He realized that he could not understand Aristotle description of Physics, and added Newton's Theory. He being to find the underlying science, which had ultimately came to him on his own journey of ones true self.

    The Copernican Revolution, was published. Kuhn, disagreed with other scientist and argued that the earth was the center of the Solar System, instead of the sun. He discussed this theory in his book.

    Started a one-year fellowship at Stanford University’s Center for Advanced Study. Tom wrote a good chunk of his most known literature, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.

    While teaching a U.C. Berkley, Tom was named Professor of the History of Science. He taught in both History and philosophy.
  • Paradigm Shift

    Paradigm Shift
    The publication of The Structure of Scientific Revolutions is where Kuhn first mentions a paradigm shift. Originally this book was apart of a series called the "Foundation of the unity of Science". He suggested that fields of science do not follow a linear pattern but experience intervals of movement. This what became know as the paradigm Shift.
