when Pope Urban III died of grief the new pope Gregory VIII had issued a crusading bull. The Papacy spring in to action immediately. the new pope did not try to have the church to leand the crusade. His appeal was to get rullers of Europe and the Archbishop Joscus of Tyre to go to France to appeal to the kings. the disasters would be harsh. the loss of Jerusalem would spark batle to reclame the land.
