The first ever Microscope
The first ever microscope that was invented was created by a father and son, Hans and Zacharias Janssen. It was created in the year 1595. This invention created new science! Ex. Microbiology, a study of organisms. -
The Early Light Idea
The study of light began in Ancient Greece in the 1600's B.C. -
Pythagoras
Pythagoras was the man who tried to explain how we see light. His first thought of light was that it consisted of beams. Though, this theory of his was wrong. If it were true, we should have a great eye sight in the dark. But even if his theory was wrong, it was still accepted. -
Euclid
Euclid was the one who discovered that when you shine a beam of light onto a flat mirror, the original beam is the same angle as the reflected beam. He suggested that light travels only in a straight direction. -
Ptolemy
In about the first centery A.D. astronomer Ptolemy described how light beams bend when they travel from air to glass. -
Al-Haytham
1000 A.D. studied the work of Euclid and Pathagoras. He was the first to know how vision works. He demontated that light bounces off of objects and then travels to the eye. He also studies many other properties of light and tryed to explain how rainbows were formed -
Sir isaac Newton
Sir isac newton was an english scientist that also had a thing for light. He was mostly interested in colors of the rainbow, so he tried an experiment. He took a prism and pointed it into the light.
As the light past through the prism it split up into many different colors. He also showed that the seperated colors combined back into white light. -
Ole Romer
The first man that discovered the measurements of light beams was Ole Romer. His measurements was refined by a scientist named Albert A Michelson, he also timed light and was mostly accurate.
