Jonas bikes over to the building where the ceremony of 12 takes place, and sits down with the other 11s. The chief elder skips his nmber, and everyone is confused. When the chief elder called his number very last, he got the job of the receiver. -
Jonas Reads His Job Discription, and Rules
Jonas opens the folder that holds his job description, and the rules he must now follow. He is shocked about what he sees, the last rules says that he is allowed to lie. -
Jonas starts his first day as the reciever
Jonas walks into the annex room, and is shocked by how many books the giver has-people in the community only get 3. The giver tells Jonas to take off his shirt and lay face down on a table. The giver then placed his hands on Jonas' back, and gave him the memory of snow, and sledding. -
Jonas sees color
Jonas went to work in the annex room one day, and he told the giver that he might have been "seeing beyond". He told the giver about the apple, Fiona's hair, and about the people's faces changing. The giver told Jonas that he was starting to see the color red, so the giver gave Jonas the memory of a rainbow. -
Jonas gets the memory of war
Jonas get the memory of warfare, and when he sees his friends playing "war" on the street, he freaks out. -
Jonas learns what release is
The giver shows Jonas a video of footage from a release that took place that day. He is shocked to see that release is actually murder. -
Jonas and the giver make plans for escape
The giver tells Jonas that he needs to get out of the community, and when the memories are released into the community, the giver will be there to guide the people through the pain. -
Jonas escapes with Gabriel
It is the night of the ceremonies, and Jonas sneeks off to get Gabriel and a bike. Then, Jonas rode off out of the community. -
Jonas Hides From Planes Passing By
There are heat seeking planes passing by over head, and Jonas takes Gabriel behind a tree and gives him the memory of snow. He does this to make their body temperatures drop. -
Jonas Makes it to Elsewhere
Jonas is just about to give up, but he keeps going. He finds a sled and goes down it, when he over the hill, he sees houses. He hears music, and knows that he has made it to Elsewhere.
