Duddy is sitting in the garden with Simcha, when he tells Duddy " A man without land is nobody" Which brings the beginning of Duddy's seach for land and becoming a somebody. -
Graduation from FFHS
Duddy finally graduates from FFHS and is starting to think about what he wants to do in life. -
Going to the resort
After Duddy had graduated he goes away to the Laurentian mountains, in Ste Agathe. He works as a waiter at a local resort. Where he meets Irwin, Linda, and Yvette. He works hard for money in tips, creating a good reputation with the guests, but isn't really liked by his co-workers. -
Picnic with Yvette
Yvette takes Duddy to a special spot to have a picnic and go swimming. As soon as he sees the land he falls in love with it and starts putting a plan in motion. -
Creation of Dudley Kane Enterprises
After getting back from the resort. Duddy meets a man named Mr.Friar. He asks him to be his partner in his new film business that focus on weddings and bar mitzvah. -
Meeting with Boy Wonder
Max gets Duddy a appointment to see the Boy Wonder. When he gets there, it seems like there's a mistake, because they give him a job as a waiter. Angry, Duddy runs out. Only to later find Mr Dingleman asking if he would join him on his business trip In New York. -
Meets Virgil
On the way home from New York Duddy meets a boy named Virgil on the train. Virgil seems very bright and bubbly. Duddy makes a business deal with him on bringing some pinball games across the board. -
Lennie runs away
Duddy comes home from New York only to find that Lennie has ran away. After some snooping around he comes to discover that Lennie is in Toronto. He drop out of medical school because he was ashamed. Irwin used him to conduct an abortion on a girl named Sandra Calder. Who got pregnant by a guy named Andy. After some talk, Duddy convinces Lennie to come back to Montreal. -
Meeting with Mr Calder
Duddy goes to explain what had happened with Sandra. How Mr.Calder can't get Lennie expelled because he has lots to lose. Which then brought Mr. Calder to ask about Duddy's business. Creating a business relationship. -
Hires Virgil
Virgil was finally able to bring the pinball machines into Canada for Duddy. Then he decides to hire Virgil. His job was to drive a truck showing different movies to different hotels. -
Uncle Benjy has cancer
Duddy's uncle Benjy falls terribly ill shortly after his wife leaves him for good. It is discovered that he has cancer and doesn't have long to live. Duddy goes to visit him asking him why he treated him so poorly over the years, leaving uncle Benjy at a lost of words. Later dying from the cancer, the two never really got any closure -
Virgil gets into an accident
Virgil gets into an accident because he had a seizure while driving for one of the films. It leaves him paralyzed from the waist down. -
Declare bankruptcy
After recent events, Duddy doesn't have anything, no money, no Yvette, no Virgil. Things becomes difficult for him and he ends up having to declare bankruptcy. -
Laying in bed depressed
After his uncle dies, Virgil getting into the accident, and declaring bankruptcy. Duddy lays in bed for weeks, doing nothing, but sleeping and reflecting. -
Goes to see Virgil and lake is for sale
Duddy finally brings himself to see Virgil for the first time after the accident. Feeling guilty for what happened, Duddy decides to live with him and Yvette, to live a simple life. Later Yvette lets him know that the land (lake) has been put up for sale. However he's not interested because he has no money. -
Steals from Virgil
Duddy finds out that Virgil was left lots of money from his grandfather. So he decides to forge a cheque for the amount he still needed -
Gets everything
Duddy finally gets the lake that is in the middle of his other property. He brings Lennie, Daddy, and Simcha to look. Only to find Simcha sad and disappointed with Duddy, because of things Yvette told him.
