growing up in a household where technology was a want and not need at the time, i did not have constant access to computers until this year. by then the popularity of MySpace has grown so big that i created my own profile. it was a big deal that my friends did not want to talk unless we were online,even if we were physically next to each other. -
my first gaming console(Xbox 360)
this year was when i got my first gaming console. it was a huge moment to me because up to then the only gaming console i had played was the original Nintendo which belonged to my older stepbrother. this was seen as a huge moment for me because at the time the graphics and mechanics of the game along with the technology of the time made video games with good graphics and storytelling into something i could spend countless hours on. -
my first cellphone purchase
this was the first ever phone i bought. after going through high school with friends and classmates who had their phones, i was finally able to message my friends and family with my own phone. by then they already had touchscreen phones. i had a simple rectangle shape phone with a classic small screen and actual buttons to press. the phone i bought was the Kyocera Domino. although the phone itself was released on 2009 it wasn't until one year after that i finally got my own phone -
first ever smartphone
this year i had finally made enough money to buy a smartphone and was finally able to put my old phone away.this purchase was another huge moment for me because i was finally able to access my social media account and even stream youtube videos as well as use wifi tethering to connect my gaming console online. something i could not do with my old kyocera phone. -
ISP installed in my apartment
this was also another moment i look back into. by then i had moved into my own apt and had set up internet. not since high school have i had access to the internet that i had in this year. i used the internet on my gaming console to play online and to use streaming applications to watch TV shows and movies. and the best part of all, i was finally able to avoid the overage fees that came with my cellphone service tether plan. -
laptop purchase
during this year i had purchased my own laptop. two main reasons i used it for was to use my training workout programs while using the TV to watch my shows as i trained. and the second use for my laptop was to sign up for these online classes i am now taking. by then i had grown obsessed with technology that i became dependent on them. the funny thing is i credit the fitness training programs i used on my laptop as the driving force to break my unhealthy attachment to technology.
