    Lewis E. Waterman was an inventor and insurance salesman. He lived in New York City his whole life and was where he created his company. Lewis liked to travel and had a great intrust in the fountain pen. Because of his job, he used the pen a lot and wanted to make it better (avoiding the leaks). So he began experimenting, and within a year, applied for a patent for his ink-feeding device. The technology behind the device was to add a piece of rubber to the tip of the pen that had a square grove

    ...to control the ink flow of the pen. With his pen approved Lewis created a company called the Ideal Pen Company. In 1887, he had rapped growth in sales, so he renamed the company LE Waterman.     The Invention of Coca-Cola
    The drink Coca-Cola was created by a man named John Pemberton on May 8th, 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia. This drink was actually a spin off of his drink French Wine of Coca, which contained French Wine. However, alcohol was was now being banned in Georgia so John changed his recipe and added kola nuts and cocaine (cocaine is no longer in the current recipe). Once Coca-Cola started to become a hit, John hired Frank Robinson and David Roe to help him run his business, however the partnership did not..

The company was taken over by Asa Griggs Candler, who took off immediately and began advertising in a way that has never been seen before. He hired men to sell coupons for a free drink, and predicted that the customers would come back to buy more bottles. This way he was able to make more money off of other people telling their friends how good Coca-Cola was.

    The Game of Basketball was invneted by a man named James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a physical education teacher at the YMCA and was instructed to create a winter sport that involved accuracy and finesse. Using the idea of a game he played when he was little called ¨Duck on a Rock¨, he used peach baskets as the hoop and raised them along with using a soccer ball to dribble.     George Washington Carver
    George W. Carver was many things including being a scientist, educator, humanitarian and a former slave. He was born in Missouri as a slave and left as a free man hungry for an education. He traveled to Iowa, where he got his many degrees, and then was offered to go teach at Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute for Negroes in Alabama. He accepted and would teach there for over 50 years. It was here he invented the many ways to use peanuts, sweet potatoes, pecans and soybeans....

Carver was able to save famers money by allowing them to buy products made with American crops. Carver used his knowledge of agriculture to invent this items along with sharing his discoveries with his students in the lab.
