Meet Cody
1 Exposition: The main character, Cody, a penguin is introduced. We also meet his mother and brother, Glen. We learn that Cody is a surfer who's dream is to become the best surfer ever. Glen doesn't believe in Cody. Cody's mother doesn't want him to leave Antarctica to follow his dream. -
Mikey Comes to Antarctica
2 Exposition: Mikey, a talent scout, comes to Antarctica to see if anyone can surf there. He is looking for new surfers to enter a big contest at Pengue Island. -
Mikey meets Cody
3 Exposition: Mikey talks to some locals and finds out Cody surfs. Cody is so excited to show Mikey what he can do and Mikey agrees. -
Cody Can't Catch a Wave
1 Rising Action: Because there are not any big waves, Cody can't show Mikey what a good surfer he is, so Mikey decides to leave Antarctica. -
Cody Chases After Mikey
2 Rising Action: Cody rides out on his surfboard refusing to be left behind. He is determined to enter and win the contest at Pengue Island. -
Cody Comes Aboard the Whale
3 Rising Action: Mikey is impressed with Cody's determination and agrees to let him ride on the whale with him back to Pengue Island. -
Cody and Chicken Joe Become Friends
4 Rising Action: Cody meets Chicken Joe, another surfer, on the whale. They immediately become best friends. -
Surfers Arrive at Pengue Island
5 Rising Action: Cody, Chicken Joe and all of the other surfers on the whale arrive at Pengue Island. There is already a bunch of surfers, fans and TV reports on the Island ready for the big contest. -
Cody Meets Tank
6 Rising Action: Cody sees Tank, last year's champion, disrespecting Big Z's memorial. Big Z is a surfing legend and Cody's idol. To defend Big Z's honor, Cody confronts Tank and challenges him to a one on one surf-off. -
Cody Almost Drowns
7 Rising Action: Cody wipes-out during the surf-off, smashes into a fire-urchin and nearly drowns. Lani, the lifeguard Cody has a crush on, rescues him. -
Lani Gets Cody Help
8 Rising Action: Lani takes Cody to Geek, her uncle, to get help for him. -
Geek is Actually Big Z
9 Rising Action: After Geek saves Cody, he agrees to teach him how to make a real surfboard. Cody has only ever had an ice-board. Cody realizes Geek is actually Big Z. He begs Big Z to also teach him how to surf. Even though Biz Z hasn't surfed since he lost to Tank years ago, Big Z agrees. Everyone thinks Big Z died in his last surfing competition against Tank. -
Big Z Gives Cody Surfing Lessons
10 Rising Action: Big Z and Cody start to become friends during the surfing lessons. Lani and Cody become closer too. Cody is finding the true meaning of surfing by making his board and spending time with Lani and Big Z. -
Cody Shapes His Board and Love of Surfing
1 Climax: Cody finally finds himself and his true love of surfing while shaping his surfboard from coalwood, the best surfboard material in the world. He finds himself by realizing that surfing isn't about winning. It is about having fun. In the process, he is able to get Big Z to surf again. Big Z, Lani and Cody have a great time surfing together. -
Cody Enters the Competion
1 Falling Action: Cody asks Big Z to watch him in the contest. Big Z refuses because he doesn't want anyone to know he is alive. He is embarrassed about his performance and loss to Tank all those years ago. -
Cody and Chicken Joe Surf
2 Falling Action: The competition begins and after the first day, the finalists are Cody, Chicken Joe, and Tank. Cody has surfed well so far and is having fun. -
Tank Cheats
3 Falling Action: During the final wave, after Tank was eliminated in the previous round, he surfs anyway and tries to takeout Chicken Joe. Cody was finding a beautiful tube, but gave it up to save Chicken Joe. -
Big Z Watches Cody Surf
4 Falling Action: Because of Tank's cheating, Cody and Tank are pushed out of bounds into the boneyard. Tank crashes into a rock and blacks out. Cody sees Big Z on a rock and paddles toward him. Big Z came to watch Cody after all. Big Z and Cody make it into the beach by using Big Z's memorial statue surfboard. Tank is rescued by Lani. -
Chicken Joe Wins the Contest
1 Resolution: When Cody and Tank surf out of bounds, Chicken Joe rides in on a wave to win the contest. -
Big Z Presents Himself to His Fans
2 Resolution: Big Z and Cody learn from each other that winning is not as important as friendship. Big Z decides to tell everyone he's not actually dead and that it was Cody who showed him the way back. Everyone is so glad to see Big Z alive again. -
Cody, Lani, and Big Z Surf Off Into the Sunset
3 Resolution: The story ends with Cody surfing into the sunset with his friends, Lani and Big Z. He has learned that friendship is more important than winning. He knows he doesn't need a contest to prove he is the best surfer. He is at peace. -
Cody's Mom is Proud
1 Epilogue: Cody's Mother says how proud she is of Cody and tells Glen to be more like his brother. Glen still doesn't care about Cody.
