Suleyman I Takes the Throne
After the death of his father, Selim I, Suleyman came to throne in Constantinople and acceded the throne as the tenth Ottoman Sultan. -

Conquest of Belgrade

Suleyman lead several naval campaings against the Portugese in the Indian Ocean in an attempt to reestablish trade with India. -

In Suleyman's last attempt to defeat the Shah once and for all, he embarked on a second campaign. This turned out to be pointless because neither country gained territory. So, Suleyman launched a third campaign where he signed a settlement. -

The Death of Suleyman I
Suleyman, who had set out from Constantinople to command an expedition to Hungary, died before an Ottoman victory at the Battle of Szigetvár in Hungary, at 71 years of age. Suleyman the "Magnificent" was buried in the Suleymaniye Mosque in Constantinople, or modern day Istanbul. He was succeeded by Selim II.
