Gregor Mendel Introduces the Individual Inhertied 'Particles'
    These Particles were called Genes.
  • Introducing DNA

The basic structure was known including that there were only four variation in the bases
  • Oswald Avery , Colin Macleod and McCarty

Oswald Avery , Colin Macleod and McCarty
They tried to destoryed different types of molecule to see if it affected the inhertied transformation in the bacteria.
  • Erwin Chargaff's Discovery

    Erwin Chargaff's Discovery
He found that in every case the proportions of cystine and guanine were the same. In the same way he found that the proportion of adenine was always the same as that thymine, But there was no relationship between other combinations of bases.
  • Linus Pauling

    Linus Pauling
Proved that polypeptide chains are usually in a a-helix hydrogen bonds shape that can be broken down by heating.
  • Maurice Wilkins And Roslind Franlin X-Ray Diffraction Of DNA

Maurice Wilkins And Roslind Franlin X-Ray Diffraction Of DNA
They were suppose to work together but for a couple of reasons they didnt. However, Franklin develped methods of getting the highest quality x-ray diffarction pictures of DNA molecules, which helped Maurice obtain accurate measurments. Eventually that helped her work out the postions of the groups in the DNA molecule relative to eachother and the distance between them. Which she then built two standed helical model for the DNA structure
  • James Watson And Francis Crick

    James Watson And Francis Crick
They tried to gather as much information about teh DNA from different scientists. Eventually Maurice Willkin gave them the information obtained by Rosalind Franklin. And finally the worked out the shape of the double helix.
