    In 1533, Thomas More refused to attend the coronation of the Queen of England at the time , Anne Boleyn. This was officially not an act of betrayal. H is refusal to attend was broadly seen as a sign of disloyalty against the Queen. King Henry took action against him and trialed him before a wide range of judges which included the Queen and her father and brother.After the jury had made their decision it was official that Thomas More was set to be sentenced by getting hanged, drawn, and quartered

    . He was executed on 6 July 1535. As he approached the mount of the steps he said to the officials "I pray you, I pray you, Mr Lieutenant, see me safe up and for my coming down, I can shift for myself"; while on the scaffold he declared that he died "the king's good servant, but God's first."

    Thomas More was beatifid by Pope Pope Leo XIII ( thirteenth ) in 1886. He was officialy named a saint and was canonized by Pope Pius XI ( eleventh ) in the year 1935.
