Columbus was looking for a new route to India/Aisa. Was credited for discovering new world and finding gold. This was important because it sparked exploration to the new world and many explorers followed. -

Pineda's Voyage
Pineda's goal was to find a water route to the pacific ocean. He explored the coast from Florida to Texas. Pineda may have also discovered the Rio Grande on his voyage. This was important because it led others to explore the land along the coast that was shown in his maps. -

Cortes' Voyage
Cortes conquered the aztec empire. He discovered 99 tons of gold by1570. Cortes explored lots of mexico and reached his goal of finding gold. Cortesmade more explorers come because of the massive amount of gold that he found. -

De Vaca's Voyage Sets Sail
De Vaca's voyage was to search for gold in Florida. The leader of this expedition was Narvez. The people had a meeting point with the ship and somehow got it confused. The ship left the spot thinking something happened to them. -

De Vaca Discovers Texas
De Vaca was in Texas for a total of 12 years. He was then found by the Spainish. This happened from his five rafts being blown by a gale and washed up on Texas with only 80 survivors. By the end only 4 people were left. He came in contact with the Krankawas, Cohilitecans, and Jumano indians. -

Fray Marcos and Esteban
Fray Marcos and Esteban's goal was to explore the land to the north and evaluate it. When Esteban went ahead to scout, he met up with a tribe and told him he was a medicine man. He demanded women and valuables. The indians then chased him down and killed him. Fray Marcos went up on a hill and reported seeing a golden city bigger than mexico city. What he saw was an adobe village made out of fools gold. -

Coronado's Expedition
Coronado was first looking for the seven cities of cibola, then he looked for quivera. The guide for his quest for quivera was Turk, an indian slave. after finding nothing, Turk was executed. Coronado only found regular indian cities. This was important because he gave a bad report of the land. -

Moscoso's Expedition
Moscoso's goal was to find gold. De Soto was the original leader, he liked to wear gold, so the indians thought he was a god. De Soto and his men recieved gifts from the indians because they thought he was a god. When he died his men buried him and tried to let the indians not find out so they buried his body. When the indians became suspicious, De Soto's men threw him in the Mississippi river, whiich they discovered. Moscoso gave the same report as Coronodo so Spain didn't return for 150 years.
