    Columbus First Voyage
    He wanted to find a route to Aisa that was easier to get to. He landed in the Bahamas and brought back small amounts of gold and different foods, plants, animals and Native Americans. He called them Indians because he thought he was in India. It was important because the King and Queen of Spain needed gold after their recent war. It started people wanting to explore the new world.

    Cortes Voyage
    Cortes went to Mexico. He conquered the Aztecs. He is important in history because he found 99 tons of gold. People thought that if Mexico had gold then the other places in the Gulf of Mexico would have gold also.

    Pineda's Voyage
    Pineda mapped the coast from Florida to Mexico. He was important because other explorers would explore using his map. He lost an eye fighting Cortes.

    De Vaca's Voyage Part 1
    His leader was Narvez. Their goal was to explore the area Pineda had mapped. They landed near Tampa Bay and traveled north. They ran out of food and supplies and were going to starve to death. They had to eat all of their horses except for one to survive. They built boats to try to escape to Cuba.

    De Vaca Discovers Texas
    They wrecked in florida and the ships thought they were dead and left. De Vaca tried to go back to Cuba but they didn't have any navigation skills so a gale picked them up and the ended up in Galveston. They were made slaves by the Karakawas. He sailed back to Europe in 1537.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban
    De Vaca heard that there was seven cities of gold in the new world. Spain didn;t want to send conquistadors so they decided to send Estabon to the new world. They also decided to make christians of the indians so they sent Fray Marcos with him. Esteban thought all the indian tribes were like the ones he had already met. He told them he was a medicine man and asked for all their food and women. He went to meet them and was never seen again

    Moscoso Expedtion
    He was a part of De Soto's expedition. De Soto died near the Mississippi River. Moscoso took over the expedtion. His travel is important in history because he gave the same report and Coronado. Spain didn't go to the new world for a long time after he returned because they reported there was no gold and lots of bad indians.

    Coronado Expedition

    Coronado Expedition
    He search for the seven cities of gold with Fray Marcos. The two cities he went to were Cibola and Quivira The Turk led them on the second part of the journey. The Turk was strangled by Coronado because he led them astray and then they didn't find anything good in Quivira. He discovered the Grand Canyon explored the Colrado River.
