Columbus Sets Sail
Columbus set sail to find a new route to Asia, because there is gold there. Spain had been in war for a long time, so they needed the gold, but instead of finding Asia they fing the Americas. -

Cortez Voyage
Cortez conquered Mexico and the Aztec tribe with a little help from surrounding neighbors. This is important, because it sparked the interst in explore more in the New World. -

Pineda is important to Texas history, because he was the first person to map the gulf coast. This help explorer explore the land. -

De Vaca Voyage
During this time period Da Vaca was not the leader, but Narvez was. So Narvez and his man were supposed to explore the land Pineda had mapped, but there was a miscomunication on the meeting point and they got stranded on now day Florida. -

De Vaca Discovery
When Narvez and the men was stranded on Florida they thought it would be a good idea to sail in small boats to Cuba. It wasn't a bad idea, since Cuba isn't a far from Florida,but none of them had navagetion skills, so they drifted to Texas. When he got here, they met the Karankawa, and stayed in texas for four years. -

Fray Marcus and Esteban
The purpose of the expedition was to study the north evaluate. During this time Estaban went to a Native tribe and demanded women and food since he was a medicine man. He was killed by the natives. fray marcus later reported that he saw a city of gold that was bigger then mexico city. -

Moscoso Expedition
De Soto was the leader in the begining of the expedition, but he died, so Moscoso toke over. During Moscoso leadership they discovereer the Mississppi river. -

Coronado
Coronado had a disappointing expedition. he was looking for Cibola and then Quivera. both didn't have much gold. On the second to Quivera, Turk was leading him, and when they found out it was a fake tale, Coronado killed Turk for lieing to him.
What he did discover was the Palo Duro Canyon in Texas and the Grand Canyan in Arizona.
This is important to our history, because since there was no reports of gold, they were no more explorers for 150 years.
