Columbus was trying to find India so he could bring riches to Queen Isabella of Spain. He found the " new " world where he encounterd Native Americans and when he went back to Spain let every one know which sparked exploration. -

He conquered Tenochtitlan where the Aztecs live this is important because it allowed him to take over and find a lot of gold. -

He mapped the coast of the GULF OF MEXICO. This sparked the exploration od Texas. -

The ships left more than a hundred men on Florida's coast so they got on make shift boats and got stranded on Galveston met nice indians and weren't found to 8 years later. -

To locate Cibola,Esteban was run down and slaughtered by indians.Fray Marcos said Texas has harsh land mean indians and no gold. -

He searched for Cibola and Quivera. Turk was his guide to Quivera.He strangled Turk to death.He found nothing but indian tribes but was able to discover north Texas.
