Sir Frances Drake was born in 1545 Tavistock, Devonshire, England as the son of a Puritan framer.

When Drake was born the family wasn't that wealthy as others. Just like any other ordinary family. They always loved and prayed to Jesus. When drake was a small young boy, the Catholic Queen Mary ame to the throne and there was religious disturbances so the family left to Chatham in Kent where they lived in a old laid up ship. Then Drakes father became a Protestant preacher.

Drake married Mary Newman and they lived a happy life.
But sadly they had no children and Mary died and Drake was very sad. But he was married to Elizabeth Sydenham who came from a wealthy family. They lived in Buckland Abby in Devon. -
Drake stole gold and silver from the Spanish because he liked money and gave it to the govenor. In return he would give him $10, 000 pounds and a knighthood which was quite expensive in those days. The Spanish hated him so they named him El Draque meaning the dragon.

Drake grew up as an explorer, the mayer of Plymouth
and a pirateer (that worked for the govenor). When he started his first journey around the world he landed up fighting the Spanish and stole their gold and silver. He loved sailing in fact he was a brilliant sailor and he was the first english man to sail around the world! -
Drake sailed down the west coast of africa then passing by the Atlantic, reaching Brazil in spring. Next he sailed southwards, down the coast of South America. He found out that the sea passage Tierra del Funego from Antartica which is named after him.

Drake died in 1596 sadly but everyone remembered him specialy his wife and all his brothers and sisters. He died because he was fighting the Spanish as usual but it didnt go well and he was slain. Drake was buried at sea in a lead coffin of the coast of Puerto Bello, Panama.
