Enlisted in the us army. He served in Korea & Japan. During his military services, his cartoons were published in ‘Pacific Stars and Stripes’ magazine. -
Starts career
Became a cartoonist for Look, Sports Illistrated , and Playboy. But, Playboy was his biggest hit, having an illistration in every magazine. he then became reconized. -

Shel met Ursula Nordstrom. She was a book editor that convinced Shel to write childrens books. Such as "the giving tree". -

Elvis Presley sang the song, a boy named sue. The song was written by Shel. Although he did write many other songs this one was one of his favorites. -
Grammy
Shel won a Grammy for writing the song " A Boy named sue". He also got reconized for other writings of his.He was very thankful for all his rewards. -

Shel had his first daughter named Shoshanna. He had his daughter with his wife, Susan Hastings. He and his wife were very blessed to have there daughter. -

Came up with his first collectio of peoems for children. And published the book "where the sidewalk ends". Which was one of his biggest sellers. -

Daughter dies
Shoshanna dies due to cerebral aneursym. She was eleven when she passed away. She ment a lot to Shel and he was devistated we he found out the news. -
Mathew
Mathew was born. Though Shel never married again; he had a child named Mathew with Sarah spencer. They never got married. -
Oscar and a Golden Globe
Nominated for and oscar for the song "Im chickin out". He was again very thankfull. He wishes his wife and Shoshanna could be there with him. -
Death
He died in Key West, Florida. He died due to heart failure. He will always be remembered. -
Song writers hall of fame
Inducted into the song writers hall of fame for his marvoulous works. Although he was not alive people still remember him. Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Bruce Springstein were also inducted into the hall of fame also. -
Wife dies
In 1975 Shel's wife dies. She died in her hometown Baltimore, maryland. Shel's heart was broken.
