Fermanagh from 1864-1849.Oscar went to Trinity College Dublin with his brother Willie on a royal scholarship to read classics.Wilde made a name for himself as an outstanding student at Trinity. In his first year, he finished first in his class. In his second year, he won a scholarship through a competitive exam, and in his finals, he won the Berkeley Gold Medal, the university's highest academic honor in Greek.

    In November 1878, he graduated with a double first in his BA of Classical Moderations and Literae Humaniores.Wilde went back to Dublin after graduating from Oxford, where he saw Florence Balcombe, his childhood sweetheart. She got married in 1878 to Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula.He also stated his intention to “return to England, probably for good.”This he did so in 1878, only briefly visiting Ireland twice.

    Wilde wrote the play quickly toward the end of 1894, and it was performed at the St. James' Theatre in London in February 1895. The play "The Importance of Being Earnest" was both a mockery of Victorian society and a representation of it. Finally, Wilde's reputation as a writer whose work would never be forgotten was established by the play's immediate designation as his finest work to date.

    Wilde was sentenced to prison for being in a relationship with another man after a prolonged struggle. On May 25, 1895, Wilde was imprisoned. He was let out of jail on eighteenth May 1897 and cruised quickly for France. He would never leave the UK again.
