Laius and Jocasta give birth to a healthy son who is later named Oedipus. -

Laius receives a prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi that says his son will kill him. -

Jocasta gives Oedipus away
Jocasta gives Oedipus to the loyal shepherd which served the king and tells him to get rid of it or to kill it by the river with his ankles pinned together. The shepherd instead gives it to the messenger. -

Messenger gives Oedipus to King Polybus & Queen Merope
The messenger then gives Oedipus to King Polybus and Queen Merope who don't tell him he's adopted and raise him as their own with love. -

Oedipus hears rumor that his parents are not his parents
Oedipus confronts Merope and Polybus who dismiss the idea but Oedipus wasn't satisfied and went to the Oracle of Delphi which told him his prophecy was to kill his father and marry and have children with his mother. -

Oedipus runs away
Oedipus runs away from home not wanting the prophecies to come true. -

Oedipus runs into King Laius
Not knowing he's a king or his father, he has a bad case of road rage and ends up killing him and the people with him single-handedly before going to Laius' kingdom (unknowingly). -

Oedipus frees Laius' kingdom from Sphinx
Oedipus answers 'human' to the riddle of the Sphinx and defeats the thing that has been causing bloodshed in their town. He is then crowned king and weds to Jocasta (their queen and his mother, unknowingly). -

Town needs Oedipus's help
The townspeople (chorus) enter Oedipus's home with offerings and beg him to save them. Saying they knew he wasn't a god, but he was one of the best men alive for them. -

Creon returns
He returns from the Oracle of Delphi saying that to please Apollo the corruption must be taken out of the land and the killer of Laius must be exiled or brought to death. -

Creon suggests asking the blind prophet

Blind prophet reveals the truth
The blind prophet (Tiresias)reveals that Oedipus himself is the corruption of the land. This leads Oedipus to believe that Creon and the blind prophet were scheming against him and gets into a heated argument with both of them. Jocasta stopped him from doing anything harsh. -

King Polybus dies

Messenger comes to Oedipus
He tells him that his father is dead and the prophecy can't come true because Merope isn't actually his mother and he was given to him by the shepherd. Oh and they want him as king too :,). -

Jocasta begs him to not dig any further for truth

Oedipus gets the truth out of the shepherd
Oedipus tortures the shepherd before he's forced to spill the beans and tell him that Jocasta, HIS WIFE WITH 4 KIDS- was actually his mother and he had killed his father because of road rage. -

Jocasta commits suicide
Lucky her- anyway, Jocasta can't live with the truth and so she screamed and cried and hung herself. -
422 BCE
Oedipus finds Jocasta dead
Once he finds her dead he decides to stab his eyes out because he believes he shouldn't be able to see the world anymore (? yeah man I don't get it either they're so dramatic- OHHH DRAMA I SEE WHERE IT COMES FROM NOW). -
421 BCE
Oedipus is exiled
Oedipus sees his daughters one last time before they are taken away from him. All his children are cursed, and he is exiled by Creon. He begs Creon to bury Jocasta. The End :)
