Birth & Education
Noam Chomsky was born on December 7th in the year 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. At the young age of 16 he began taking classes at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied fields of work like linguistics, mathematics, and philosophy. Eventually in 1958 he was appointed to Harvard's Society of Fellows, which is a group that is recognized for their amazing academic potential, already showing what a bright scholar Noam would become. -
Syntatic Structures
While teaching at MIT, Noam solidified himself in the world of science and was dubbed "The American Socrates". He published a piece of his work titled Syntactic Structures in 1957 which introduced the thought of Transformational Grammar. Syntactic Structures influenced various schools of work other than linguistics, and it left a lasting mark on the study of knowledge, mind and mental processes'. -
DoD & Chomsky
Beginning in 1966, Chomsky started receiving praise everywhere he traveled from everyone he shared his thoughts and knowledge with. While being employed as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, his Beckman lectures were published under "Language and Mind". But it did not stop there, his work had caught the attention of military officials alike and he began working as a contractor for the DoD to aid in the development of languages for computer operations in the wars to come. -

Legacy
Still to this day Chomsky is active in politics and continues to spread his wealth of knowledge of generations to come. Although he did retire from full time teaching, he still attends and gives lectures at University's across the nation, especially at MIT. In regards to his views on politics Chomsky has been described as being a political dissident and has been since his childhood according to those close to him. He will be survived by his 3 children, and his wife Valeria Wasserman.
