Jack the main character is at a party. At the party he is sitting beside a man. Jack is humming to the music going on the guy beside him tells him off for humming out of tune. Jack then gets made at the man and tells him off. -
The letter
After the party he gets a letter. The letter is from the navy. He has been waiting to get a ship for a long time. He is really hoping, that is what the note will be about. -
The general
The letter said that he is now owner of a ship named the Sophie. She is a very small ship so she might not be able to go fast but Jack thinks she could go fast. -
The old captain
Jack goes to the Navy General to thank him for the ship. The general dose not like Jack so the general dose not takes Jack's thanks seriously. The general dos not like Jack because Jack likes his wife. -
The trick
When Jack is out of the office he sees on the letter that the day to get me from the old captain was the day of the party. This is important to the book because you find out how Jack gets his men and starts sailing. -
The reactaion
After that he knows that the general gave him the party invite so he would miss the time to get men. Then he immediately starts looking for men -
The search
He goes to his girlfriend to ask to try to get him some men. He also needs to try to figure out shifts for his crew. -
The suprise
When Jack goes to his ship he sees that the old captain has left some men. In fact the old captain left some good men and so he happy. -
Doctor
Jack meets a old friend and he is a doctor. Jack asks him if he will be the doctor on his ship and he said yes. -
The mast!!
The first time that Jack takes the Sophie out he breaks the cross mast. He broke it because he knew that the ship could go faster and they had a bigger mast at the ship yard.
