    At four years old, Louis was educated by his chief master and godfather, Jules Mazarin. As well as his governor, Nicholas de Neufville. Louis did not earn any academic education but only the necessities from his masters such as: history, war, spiritual development, and the arts.

    Louis XIII of France died, making Louis XIV inheriting his power of the kingdom in France at the age of four. This affected Louis XIV dramatically as he was the next ruler of France.

    Paris Parliament fought against the crown. Louis was heavily affected by these civil wars. He suffered through poverty, hunger, and fear. All of these traumatic characteristics and exposures to these wars shaped his behavior and perspectives during his reign as a young child.

    Louis was struggling for the past couple of years to fight over his love for Marie Mancini, Mazarin's niece. He made up his mind and married Marie-Therese, daughter of Spain (Phillip IV). It was a way for Louis to create trust between countries.

    Everything went downhill from his death for Louis. He was, at the time, to be stated 'responsible' for ruling the kingdom. He viewed himself as a representation of a God figure, so he has his divine right to own this state of power - to control and show his absolute monarch himself

    Anne of Austria was Louis' great mother. She assisted him and served as a regent for the ruling of France in his place.

  • Palace of Versailles

    Palace of Versailles
    Teachings from his past masters about the arts impacted Louis. Therefore, he decided for himself to call all people of his kingdom to build the Palace of Versailles to show off his power and ruling.
  • Failure - The Edict of Nantes

    Sought Huguenots as mere rebels and tried to convert them by force. Louis revoked the Edict of Nantes which guaranteed their freedom of religion/worship. This started a decline in his reign.
