OSDL and Free Standards Group merged in 2007 and became the Linux Foundation which helps support sustainable eco systems and technology development through open source projects. -
Hall of Fellows
He was inducted into the Hall of Fellows in 2008 which honor exceptional men and women who's contributions have changed the world. He is credited for creating the Linux kernel and managing the open source development of the Linux operating system. -
US citizen
In 2010, Torvalds became a citizen of the United States of America. -
Millennium Technology Prize
The Technology Academy Finland awarded him the Millennium Technology Prize, which is one of the world's largest technology prizes. -
Internet Hall of Fame
In 2012 he was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame -
Computer Pioneer Award Recipient
He recieved this prestigious award for the development of the Linux kernel and open source programming. -
Steps down
