    Drew (age 3) has a hard time completing a task without needing constant reassurance or help, because his guardian has always constantly reacted harshly when a mistake occurs. In Erikson's second stage, autonomy versus shame and doubt, the crisis is that between having an emotionally supportive and a freewill of making mistakes and being able to learn in a healthy environment (autonomy) or being restricted to doing anything independently, having a constant let down when something is done alone

    Drew's social relationships: Identify versus identity confusion
    Drew (age 15) has started school and feel as though he has no sense of belonging, whereas his classmates have an idea of what to do in life. In Erikson's fifth stage of identity versus confusion, the crisis between developing his personality of what he wants to do and how he puts himself into the world, and his classmates who are self-confident in what they are going to be as a person when they grow older.

    Drew acceptance with life: ego integrity versus despair
    Drew (age 74) meets in his resting bed and is surrounded by his family members and telling stories of life good and bad. He has come with acceptance with all the things he has brought into the world even though his childhood has been rough. In Erikson's eighth stage of ego integrity vs. despair, the crisis is that Drew is reflecting through his life and accepting what he had given into the world (ego integrity) - whereas he doesn't regret anything he has done over the course of his lifetime.
