The Mayflower Compact was the first document of the Plymth colony. It was significant because the people were demanding the freedom to practice whatever religion they pleased wanted to practice. -
The Great Awakening
This took place between the 1730s and 1740s. It impacted the culture of the colonials. People argued over religion and many even joined Protestant groups. Some of these people included, African Americans, Native Americans, and women. The movement inspired colonists to question British authority and the idea of freedom slowly emerged. -
