Joseph sent his brother $40 to hold on to until he gets home. He told his brother that if he doesn't return, to keep it for himself and their sister. -

Left Memphis after being there for a few months to Bolivar. -

He is tired after a long and dreary march from Memphis. There was a fight in Bolivar right before they got there so some of the railroad is torn up. -
