Hugo Chavez was born on July 28, 1954, in Sabaneta, Venezuela. This was a Monday. Hugo was the son of two school teachers. He was raised by his grandparents because his parent could not afford to raise him and all of his siblings.

He attended Venezuela academy of military science. In 1975 Hugo Chavez graduated from Venezuela academy of military science. However, he graduated at the bottom of his class.

Hugo Chávez was also married to Nancy Colmenares. This was his first wife. They were married from 1977-1995.

In 1992 Hugo was put into prison. He was put into prison for leading the MRB-200. This was and unsuccessful coup.

In 1997 Hugo Chavez was married to Marisabel Rodriguez de Chavez. He has six kids. Their names are Maria, Rosa, genesis, Sara, Hugo(his only son).

After being in prison for two years, he founded a political party. It was known as the fifth republic movement. Then in 1998 he was elected as the president of Venezuela.

On April 11, 2002, a rally was held, about 2 million showed up. They marched on the president's place. They demanded Hugo Chavez his resignation.

Hugo Chavez death

Unfortunately, Hugo passed away on March 5th, 2013. He died after a long battle with cancer. It was pelvic cancer. Even he died in March his death was not publicly announced until the following month.
