The begining of his Naval Career
He joined the navy when he was twelve on a ship commanded by his maternal uncle. He suffered from sea sickness his entire life. -

He became a captian at the age of twenty. He served in the West Indies, the Baltic and Canada. -
Scurvy
During a voyage across the Atlantic, Nelson and his crew got scurvy because they had no fresh fruit or vegetables. He lost most of his teeth because of it. -
Battle of Calvi
During this battle, Nelson lost the sight in his right eye. -
The Battle of Tenerife
Horatio lost his right arm in the battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and he was defeated by the Spanish Navy. -
Battle of the Nile
In The Battle of the Nile, Nelson destroyed Napoleans' fleet. -
The Battle of Trafalgar
He saved Britain from an invasion by Napolean. Nelson was killed by a sniper during the battle.His last words were:
" Thank God I have done my duty." -
State Funeral
Unlike most saliors, instead of his body being buried at sea, his was pickled in brandy. He was given a state funeral in London and buried in St Paul's Cathedral.
