    Publishing of Webster's Dictonary
    Webster firstbwrote the dictonary in 1828 then revised it in 1840. The dictonary included American spelling and American slang. This event is significant to American culture because we now know the meaning of every english word.

    The Election of 1828 included a rematch John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Jackson promised to help the neds of common people and supported the idea of majority rules. This idea became known as the Jacksonian democracy. The expansion of voteing rites help Jackson win the presidency of 1828.

    this election is uniqe because nominations were not made by congresssional causes, but by conventions and state legislatures. It also created the Jacksonian Democracy which allowed goverment by people, democracy in social, economic, and political life, limited the government, but with a strong president, and championed the cause of the farmer and the laborer in an agricultural and industrial sociaty.

    Indians found gold and the Americans wanted it. So, they made a treaty with the indians saying they had to move to Indian Territory. The Choctaw and othe Southeast tribes were moved off their land. Others objected and wouldn't move. Federal troops were ordered to move them by force. This significant to America because we got land and gold.

    the lowell girls of Massachusetts went on strike for better working conditions. They also demanded shorter work hours and higher wages. After the gov. wouldn't give them these things they went on strike. Our country benefited from this because now our wages and work hours are fair.

    People in texas were haveing problems with Santa anna's troops. At the moment only two small forces were ready to stand up to the troops. Santa's troops surrounded San Antonio and began their siege. They were able to defend Amalo anf they won the war. This event is signifiant because we were able to hold the fort witch meantwe were powerful.

    When he was attacked and killed by a mob, Smith was the mayor of Nauvoo, Illinois, and running for President of the United States. He wanted to become the thecratic king and was imprisoned. While he was in jail awaiting trial an armed mob of men with painted faces stormed the jail and shot him and his brother Hyrum to death. This event is significant to american culture beacause we could have become communist id he succeeded

    Frederick Douglass publishes autobiography
    Frederick Douglass published an autobiography about his slave life. He feared being re-captured by his owner so he fled to America and later came back with his freedom. This event is significant to our country because it helped people realize slavery was wrong.

    one day, James Marshall was building a sawmill and saw somehing shining. Out of curiosity, he reached down to grab it, his heart thumped for he was certain he saw gold, hence the California Gold Rush. This event is significant to our country because we made a lot of land and money.

    The war ended when America and Mexico signed the treaty of Gualdalupe Hidalgo. In this treaty, mexicans realized texas was part of America. This event was significant to our country because we gained Texas, California, Nevada, Utah, most of Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming.

    This event atracted about 300 people. All the women demanded the same rights as men had. This event is significant to our country because now we have the Declorations of Sentiments which stated that woman have the same rights as men.

    The Irish people got cought in a disease which killed all their potato crops. between 1.5 to 2 million people died because of this. This forced the irish people to move to America. This event is significant to our country because America has more diversity.

    Thereau moved to a cabin he built near walden lake. The book Walden was about his life and said people should live by there own indiviual lifes. Our country benefited from this because it gave us a new way of writing but more important a new way of life.
