    Orfila is known as "the father of toxicology". He worked to make chemical analysis a routine part of forensic medicine, and made studies of asphyxiation, the decomposition of bodies, and exhumation.

    Bertillon thought it would be smart to photograph crime scenes and evidence. he also thought of a method using measurements to identify people.
