    Diego was born in 2002, in a small town in Mexico City named Nezahualcoyotl,(Neza).
  • Growing up

    Growing up
    As time goes on, Diego grew p little by little, with his grandparents of course, his mom was in the United States trying to give him an easier lifestyle to be a part of. Meanwhile, his dad was rarely around him.
  • School

    Diego attended Miguel Hidalgo primary school . During school, Diego was not the worst student but was a great listener either. He would do his work but was very troublesome, nevertheless Diego was a good kid.
  • Life changing moment

    Life changing moment
    1st grade was coming to an end, and as always, Diego was waiting for his grandma at the front door of his class. Things didn't turn out that way on this particular day, instead he saw his mom walking down a set of stairs with my "brother".

    Diego never had a girlfriend throughout his primary school years, but he had a huge crush on one beautiful girl, Berenice. He went on several excursions with her but never told her how he felt.

    "Goodbye"
    Seeing your mom after a long time is extremely relieving, Diego cried instantly when he saw his walking down those stairs. All he could think about was spending everyday with his grandparents and his mom forever. Until she gave him the news that they were moving to the United States and his grandparents would be staying in Mexico. That broke him so much, Diego went days with continuous sobbing.

    A new world
    Moving to a different country is a very scary transition, specially if you are familiar with no one there. The first stop was California where Diego had an aunt and uncle, they later took excursion buses all the way to Chicago. Diego's mom had a boyfriend in Indiana which she had a kid with, they were picked up in Rosemont, Illinois and moved to Indiana.

    In the span of a month of being here in the United States, Diego began to attend elementary school at Maplewood Elementary where he meet a decent amount of people. One of them became his best friend throughout all elementary, his name was Rolando. They ate together at lunch and always shared chips the days they had some at school

    Understanding how the new world works is very complicated when you aren't used to the lifestyle. Adapting to Fort Wayne's community was somewhat weird, Diego was used to loud roads, taxi driver clog-ups and newspaper articles being passed out at every intersection.

    Growing up in adversity
    As the years went by, Diego begun to understand how things worked here. He grew up around his mom more than anyone. Not too many trips to the movie theater with friends were made.
  • Developing a new style

    Diego's style when he first arrived in the United States was not the best there could ever be. As he experienced new things, he noticed the style was very different here. Diego started to catch on and used it for himself.
  • Creating a name for himself

    Creating a name for himself
    Diego was passionate about soccer his entire life, he always had a ball at his feet. He played for a foster park league, then Sports Club, then Fort Wayne United and finally for high school. High school was probably the biggest opportunity for Diego to show what he was made of.

    As years pass by, Diego finally understands the "New World" and knows how to enjoy his time with his family and friends, he likes to go out and spend time with his friends of the soccer field. Time at the pool with his family is also very important to Diego
