This was a group of people that revolted against the Mexican government because they wanted California to be part of The United States.

The comprises was that the north gets California as a free state and no slave trade in Washington DC. South gets slaves in Utah and New Mexico and Texas gets 10 million dollars.
It allowed an equal amount of slave and non slave states. Also kept the Union together. -

The Gadsden purchase was an agreement between Mexico and the US. The US would give Mexico 10 million dollars for a part of Mexico.
