    Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain, trying to find a direct water route to Asia that was going West. He never did, but instead he stumbled upon the Americas, which is now the Caribbeans. I chose this event because this is how America began.

    This was a war for independence between the new American, the 13 colonies, and the rule of Great Britain. It started because of tension between the colonist and the British authorities and the taxes they were putting on them. I picked this because this is how we started our independence from Great Britain.

    The Declaration of Independence is important to American history because it was our first written goals for the nation. It gave birth to to ther term is we know as the United States of America.

    This document established America's national goverment and laws. This was important and added to the timeline because this guarenteed basic rights for American citizens.

    This was a land deal between the United States and France, the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million. This was important because it doubled the size of the country and helped the westward expansion.

    This war started when the southern states seceded from the Union after the election of Abraham Lincoln. This became a fight to end slavery. This war ended slavery in the United States and cost so many American lives in the process. It broke up a nation but resolved slavery.

    Changed federal legal status of more than 3.5 million enslaved African-Americans in the designated areas of the south. Abraham Lincoln innitiated it, and read it out loud at Antietam, after a battle.

    Menlow Park is where Edison first introduced American's to the lightbulb. Changing the way people worked in the their homes and jobs every day. Now American's didn't have to use only candles and sunlight to see what they were working on. Paved the way for the industrial revolution of America.

    Wilbur and Orville Wright made four flights at Kitty Hawk with their first powered air craft. This would change America's transportation around the country.

    Highland Park, Ford Assembly Plant in Michigan is where the first mass assembly line for automobiles began. This was important to American history because it changed the way to produce cars from 12 hours to 2 hours and 30 mintues. This changed the way America could prodcue cars at a fast rate and more often. Also providing more jobs to people.

    Last from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The war bgan in 1814. Began after the assisination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.New military technologies brought more horrors of war and destruction. Refered to as the first modern war. Women went in to work to replace men that had to go to military.

    WWII was already going on, but this attach led to America declaring war on Japan and Nazi Germany. WWII was the largest armed conflict in human history.This war led America to the height of world economics, military and political power.

    Also known as the Manhattan Project, this bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in Japan, This was one of the bombs that was used by Americans out of two total, to end WWII. The second bomb used on Nagasaki, also a Japanesse city, ended WWII.

    This was when the US and the Soviet Union was in political, ecomomical, and military tension between the two super powers. They were against each other because America was trying to get rid of communinsm and Soviet Union was in a state of communnism. It was important because it proved what power countries had with atomic weapons.

    Korean War was between North and South Korea. US helped South Korea because North Korea was in a communist state and they wanted to get rid of communism throughout the world. The two Korean countries are still split to this day because of the conflict.

    Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, as JFK was riding in a car with his wife in a motorcade he was assinated. He was aware that there was a feud among party leaders in Texas, so he was campaigning through Texas. This impacted America because it made future presidents more secure with secret service.

    March 8, 1965 the first US combat troops enter into Vietnam War. This was a long and costly war with Vietnam communist regime and the Viet Cong against South Vietnam and its ally the US. This was important to American history because they were trying to get rid of more communism but did not succeed. American people disrespected troops that went into Vietnam.

    This was a historic event that was a big deal for people because America had been in conflict with the Soviet Union and the space race. This ended a trying time for Americans with the assisnation of Kennedy, Vietnam War and Civil Rights Movement.

    August 6, 1991, creator Tim Berners -Lee posted a short summary of the www on the ALT. Hypertext newsgroup and gave birth to new technology, that changed the world and the future. This was important to America because it gave us unbelievable amounts of technological advancements.

    September 11, 2001 was a serious of planned terrorits attacks on American by Islamic terroist group Al-Qaeda. More than 3, 000 people died from this attack which resulted in the biggest terroist attack on US soil. This event changed the way Americans viewed the country, the security measures in place, ecomomy, military and more.
