Safe Area
- Father Kleinsorge quickly looses his drive to take action, he was "already growing apathetic and dazed in the pretense of the cumulative distress" (page 27).
- Father Kleinsorge is determined to save Mr. Fukai (secretary of the diocese), he physically has to pull him away from the house to get him to leave. (page 29)
- Father Kleinsorge starts to make his way to the safe area. (page 28)

- Is it common for those going through high levels of stress to become apathetic towards it?
- Why does he care so much about Mr. Fukai when he leaves others behind to die?

(How did Father Kleinsorge react to the bomb being dropped?)
- describes it as a "terrible flash", like "a large meteor colliding with the earth" (page 12).

- He then went back inside his room to look through his belongings
