WHAT: He helped explore the Mississippi River and helped indigenous people learn. He was a french missionary who wanted to discover Michigan and map the Mississippi river. He was sent to establish missions up the St. Lawrence rive.

WHAT: Rene- Robert was born in France, 1643. He was sent to explore the Mississippi and the Illinois rivers. He claimed the Mississippi waters and named them after King Louis XIV. He died in 1687.
