    Biography
    Erasmus Darwin was born in Nottinghamshire, England. He attended Centerville Grammar School, then St John’s College and finally University of Edinburgh Medical School. He had more than 50 years of success as a physician and was asked by King George III to become the royal physician but he declined. Darwin was married twice and had 14 children.

    Biography
    William Paley was born in Peterborough, England. He received his schooling at Giggleswick Grammar School (his father was headmaster there) and then Christ’s College in Cambridge. In 1780, he was made the vicar of Dalston. In 1782, he was appointed the archdeacon of Carlisle. For the remainder of his life, he passed away of the 25th of May 1805 and was buried alongside his two wives.

    John Henslow was born in Rochester, Kent. John attended St John’s College in Cambridge. He graduated in 1818 and pursued his interest in natural history. Henslow married Harriet Jenyns on the 16 of December 1823. They were to have 2 sons and 3 daughters. In 1824 he was ordained and in 1827 he became a professor of botany at Cambridge. Through his teaching method and enthusiasm, his subject was very popular.
