Early Life and Education
Born in Nave Mesto Nad Vahom, which has now become Slovakia, Ernest Angel became a well respected American Science Philosopher. He came to the United States at the age of 10, earning his citizenship in the 1919. He received schooling in New York and earned his PHD from Columbia University. -
Teachings
He eventually would end up teaching at Columbia University until his retirement in the 60's. His work revolved largely around mathematical fields of study. In the year 1955, he became the first John Dewey Professor of Philosophy. In 1977, just 6 years before his death, he became a part of the National Academy of Sciences. -

Books and Beliefs
His first book, The Structure of Science, was published in 1961. The book was reviewed well upon its release. Inside, he discussed his problems with unifying the nature scientific laws and explanations. He also expressed his belief that social sciences are scientific and should be considered in study. He also assisted in the writing of the book An Introduction to Logic and The Scientific Method as well as editing other works of science. -
Death
Ernest Nagel died in New York where he is survived by his two sons
