    This event impacted children born in the 1940's, for they were the first generation to grow up with TV. TV was just being invented and was becoming a huge part of people's lives. This took place in the late 1940's in the U.S. It is important because TV is still a part of our lives today, and this was a lifestyle change for everyone. This impacted the economy because TV commercials brought in over 1.5 billion dollars in the early 1950's. It also allowed people to see historical events firsthand.

    United Nations
    The U.N. consists of 193 nations, but there are only 5 countries in the Security Council, including the U.S., England, France, Russia, and China. The U.N. is a peace keeping organization, and was created after WWII to help prevent conflict between countries. This organization was created at the Yalta Conference in 1945, and is important to history because it solves disputes around the world. The U.N. impacted society, because it ensures peace and security through out the world for countries.

    Truman Doctrine/ Marshall Plan
    The people who made these plans were Harry Truman and George Marshall. The Truman Doctrine was when Truman asked congress for $400 million for Greece and Turkey to stop Communism. The Marshall plan was made to help aid money to European countries to rebuild after the war. These events took place from 1947- 1948, they took place in European countries. They are important because it helped build our relationship with Europe. This impacted the economy because we loaned them large amounts of money.

    Jackie Robinson was born in Georgia in 1919. Chosen by Branch Rickey, Jackie was the first African American chosen for the MLB. Jackie was drafted in 1947 for the Brooklyn Dodgers. This event was important to history because he was the first African American in the MLB, and he showed America bravery through all the hate. He impacted American society because he showed that no matter what race you are, you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.

    Joseph McCarthy was a senator from Wisconsin. He tried saying that he had a list of 57 State Department employees who were communist. A year later, he stated that there was Communists in the army. This event happened in 1953 in Wisconsin. This event was important to history because it caused awareness of Communism spreading in the United States. It impacted American society because it spread fear and suspicion of Communism.

    The two people involved in this event were JFK and Lee Harvey Oswald, his assassin. JFK was shot in the head and killed during a parade, while sitting next to his wife, on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. This event is important to history because the leader of our country had been killed, and it was a very tragic time in the U.S. This event impacted American politics, because when Kennedy died, Lyndon Johnson took over as president, and there was change in the government.
  • Kent State Massacre

    Kent State Massacre
    The people involved in this event were students, the police, and the National Guard. Students were protesting Nixon's pledge to send troops to Cambodia. The police bayoneted protesters, and National Guard fired 61 bullets. This event took place in 1970 at Kent State University. This was important to history because 25 students and professors were found guilty, 4 students were killed, and 9 were wounded. Kent State Massacre impacted society because it caused negative feelings toward police.

    Gerald Ford was the 38th U.S. President. He did many things as President, such as pardoning Richard Nixon. Ford was president from 1974-1976 in the U.S. Gerald Ford is important to history because he was a U.S. president, and accomplished many things. This impacted U.S. economy because he started trade with the Soviet Union.

    This war began when Saddam Hussein sent 100,000 troops into Kuwait.The U.S. wanted to prevent Iraq from spreading its influence in the Middle East, and UN launched an attack called Desert Storm. It took place in 1990 in Iraq. The event was important because we protected Kuwait who is a rich oil producer. This event impacted American economy because it cost billions of dollars to rebuild including $700 million to clean up oil spills.

    Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States. Clinton accomplished many things as president. For example, Clinton sent 20,000 troops to Bosnia to stop a Civil War. Clinton was president from 1992- 2000 in the U.S. Clinton was important to history because he helped the U.S. economy, lowered crime rate, and modernized the military. Bill Clinton affected the U.S. economy by lowering U.S. deficit.

    The al-Qaeda was the group responsible for these attacks. On this day, terrorists hijacked and caused 4 planes to crash, killing many people. The four planes crashed into the WTC, the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field. This event is important to American history because it was a devastating day and made America take airport security more seriously. It impacted American society because many people lost their family and friends, it was a terrible day, and everyone was talking about it.

    Barack Obama was a Democrat and the 44th U.S. President. He accomplished many things, such as passing a health care reform. Obama was president from 2008- 2016 and served two terms in the U.S. This is important because Barack Obama is the first African American president in the U.S. Obama has affected society by showing all African Americans that it doesn't matter what race you are, you can do anything you set your mind to.
